Pope's popularity not up to John Paul II

Jan 06 07:57am

While John Paul II was rarely accused of being charismatic, he is now considered an appealing alternative to lead the Catholic Church.

Tell us what you think.  Is the pope boring and could his views be harming his popularity? Tell us below...

this pope is not popular because he is a bigot who uses his position to preach hate and non tolerance of people who, though they may not be the norm, are probably way more acceptable in the eyes of god than any pope has been. face it, the roman catholic church has got the whole bible wrong.

I agree, youyangs59, if the catholic church continue their belief that using condoms is wrong they will murder millions more young people. "Abstinence is 100% sure, but otherwise you should use condoms" - Father D'Agostino - Africa. Please - interpret your beliefs into a safe way of living

I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
