Steak and Eggs is usually a fun one. One person askes the other a question and they must answer with steak and eggs or what ever you want them to say. And your not supposed to laugh.
Other games are scissors paper rock or i spy.You could try What or Who am I? Scavengar Hunts. Hope it helps.

WE TRAVEL A LOT WITH OUR KIDS THEY ARE 5 1/2 AND 3. OUR KIDS EACH HAVE A MEGA SKETCHER, THEY DRAW FOR HOURS AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM DROPPING PENS AND GETTING INK STAINS ON THE CHAIR, A SMALL PILLOW EACH COMES IN HANDY AS WELL.

We have just returned from a trip to townsville and our 3 kids were kept occupied with MP3's and electronic games when they were not making little sayings out the letters on No plates
as a kid my parents with us 3 kids traveled from Townsville to Tassie in a Sigma sedan and we played this game

Hi Nat,
I pack a few little 'surprise' bags - paper bags with things like a multi-coloured pencil and a page out of a colouring book; 2 or 3 toy cars; a new toy from a $2 shop etc - sometimes I put a little food treat in too - maybe a snake or a freddo. Good luck and have fun!! Karen, Brisbane.

Hi,
When my children were 6 and 8, we drove from Perth - Sunshine Coast - Victoria over 6 wks.
Left at 7am, drove for 2 .5 hrs, stopped for m/t
Swapped drivers, drove for 2.5 hrs, stopped for lunch
Our final leg of 2.5 hrs, then the boys were able to play for a few hrs before tea.

use a magnet board and get colorful magnets cut out pictures that they may see eg sheep, yellow car etc and when they see the objects they "stick their pictures onto the magnet board"
Stop on a regular basis and let them play in a playground for a little while each new playground is like wonderland

Hey Nat, my mum used to make up little car packs with drawing books, sticker books, casettes to play, books to read, a list of things I had to find, a pencil case and lots of Toys and that worked.

Hi again Nat,
Another idea is to cover the back seat with a rug or something else washable and just accept the occasional accident!! The trip needs to be fun for everyone - try to imagine and avert any 'disasters' before you even leave home. Karen, Brisbane.

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
