Can True Love happen in half a second?

Dec 09 08:05am

A study from New York says that it only takes half a second to decide if someone is attractive and a potential mate.

The tale of a lovesick Romeo who is searching for a woman he met at Scruffy Murphy's brought up the issue of how long it takes to fall deeply in lov. Long enough to write a lengthy poem, it seems.

Our resident psychologist Jo Lamble, herself a romantic, says that it's most probably lust, not love. It's the thrill of the instant attraction that gets your heart racing.

How long did true love take for you? Do you think it can happen in an instant?

Jo says attraction at first sight is real but it would be hard to fall in love from the first meeting.Jo feels that most people mistakee.

Love at first sight

  • You don't want to rush things
  • You see things in the person other people don't
  • You want to learn everything about the person

To the girl the guy wrote the poem to, don't meet up with this guy. If there truly was a connection at the bar It would have gone further to an exchange of numbers.

I am guessing that you're the first girl who's talked to him in ages. Its guys like him who give us normals guys a bad name

I lived in Melbourne & briefly met the most amazing man from the Sunshine Coast in Mackay. He was shy so I didn't hear from him for months and thought I would never see him again. He eventually contacted me and invited me up to visit him. I did and we are now happily married.

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
