JK Rowling's new book - first review!

Dec 04 08:36am
JK Rowling's newest book hits the shelves worldwide at 9am on Thursday morning.

The book is called, The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

At Sunrise we received our advanced copy at 5am.

The tale is linked with the Harry Potter series but is considerably shortr and will explain some details behind the ongoing story of the young wizard.

Beedle the Bard is a collection of five fairy tales and is mentioned in the final Potter book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" as having been left to the boy wizard's friend Hermione Granger by Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts school.

Author and TV presenter, Lisa Forrest, came in to read it for us and prvide a revoew by the end of today's show!

Lisa is a huge Harry Potter fan, so is well versed when it comes to the subject matter.

Our first review

No spoilers! She will not give away any plot details!

"I expected the tales to be a bit longer," said our instant reviewer, Lisa Forrest. "They're quite short."

And there's a reappearance of one character killed off by JK Rowling.

"There's lots of Dumbledore," said Lisa.

"I amost got the feeling that [Rowlong] was sorry she killed off Dumbledore. The short stories were a little shorter than I expected."

Proceeds from "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," will go to a charity for vulnerable children in Eastern Europe co-founded by Rowling.

Only one of the five stories - "The Tale of the Three Brothers" - was recounted in the Potter book, and the volume contains clues that were to prove crucial to Potter's final mission to destroy Lord Voldemort.

Indicating the interest the new book is likely to generate with Potter fans young and old, one of seven hand-written, illustrated copies of Beedle the Bard made by Rowling fetched $4 million at auction a year ago.
