Should we bring back the milkman?

Nov 27 08:11am

He delivered bottles of fresh milk to your door.

He changed the bottle tops for Christmas. He as dependable and faithful... to his task.

He had a sparkle in his eye - if you got up early enough to see him.

Tell us what you miss about the milkman and if you think the time has come to bring him back. Would you pay more?

When we lived in Sydney we had milk, fruit and veggies delivered by Aussie Farmers Direct. So easy not having to go out for the milk every day and the fruit and veg always fresh and tasty.haven't tasted a fresher, crisper apple since I was a kid.

I was born & raised in Melbourne I can still remember daily deliver milkman. When my family & I moved to Brisbane we still got to experience the milkman delivering daily milk. Not long after milkman stopped. Yes, I agree milkman should come back. It'll be great!!

There are still a very few milkman who deliver milk here in s a you have to ring up the milk board to get phone numbers and names of the milkmen. When I was growing we used to enjoy scalding the cream of the milk. It was very rich and thick plus the fact that mum wouldn't have to lug it with her.

i would love the milk man to come back but could you imagine all the people that would go around in the middle of the night or early morning and take the milk or the money that is left for the milkman the risk is not worth it

Gee ... you mean that the deregulatization of the milk industry has made it harder for the domestic consumers and concentrated the profits into the hands of the retail giants? Bring back the milko, but who's home to get the milk in before it spoils anymore anyhow?

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
