Unleaded petrol could drop below a dollar a litre in south-east Queensland within weeks after prices fell as low as $1.07 a litre on Monday.
Motoring body RACQ spokesman Jim Kershaw said on average customers were paying $1.15 for petrol on Monday.
Online petrol price monitor Motormouth.com.au said motorists in Albion were paying $1.07 a litre, with the price dropping to $1.08 at Underwood and Deception Bay.
"If prices continue to fall the way they are, we will see petrol selling for a dollar a litre or less during Christmas ," Mr Kershaw said.
