Ronald McDonald House Charities®

Quick Facts
Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia (RMHCTM) was established by McDonald's in 1985. McDonald's® Australia pays all national administration and management costs for the Charity.

RMHC creates, finds and supports programs that help seriously ill children and their families.

Below are five key facts about each of the five major programs operated by RMHC:
The Ronald McDonald® House Program

A home away from home for families with seriously ill children.
1. There are 13 Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia. Our 13th House opened in Tamworth on September 6, 2008.
2. Most families who stay at a Ronald McDonald House are from the country. Without a Ronald McDonald House they would probably have nowhere to sleep while their child is in hospital.
3. As many as 250 families will be sleeping at a Ronald McDonald House tonight.
4. Some families stay for one night while many others can live at the House for months or even years.
5. This year our Houses will provide a home away from home for over 5,000 families.

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
