Crocodiles - eye for an eye?

Nov 13 10:07am

The Queensland Opposition has called for an inquiry into the Government's crocodile management policy, after claims it has led to the deaths of two men.

Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg  described the Government's policy as a "goofy scientific experiment".

In both cases mentioned in parliament, the fatal attacks were carried out by known classified dangerous crocodiles that had been trapped and handled prior to attacking and killing two members of the public.

Should we continue relocating crocodiles or do you think more of the dangerous animals should be slaughtered? Tell us below..

+ I'm 36 and lived in Townsville all my life and been to magnetic island more times than i can remember and i can tell you there is not one croc sign to be seen. you tell them Kochie! cull the crocs or they will cull us

+ have u all forgotten that human life is wroth more then a wild animal? if a anilmal kills it should be put down, why should dogs be the only one to be put down? there are so many signs up where u can't swim cause of crocs they are breeding like there is no tomorrow, i live up north near carins i mean its easy for people who don't live near croc waters to say u should leave them alone but when u live here and u can't even swim on the beach or water hole cause of a croc or when u go fishing the croc takes half of your fish its unfair that we have to stay in doors because of crocs. i would love to see crocs on our food menu and become handbags.

+ I live in NQ There are Crocs around Its up to us to keep away from them we are supposed to be the higher intelligence They should be relocated to unpopulated areas Dogs are domestic animals Crocs are not .

+ Kochie, please tell me how u can catch the right croc with out first killing the wrong ones?

I lived in FNQ for four years & with these "living dinosaurs". They are not some feral animal you should cull they are a native to Australia. These crocs are currenting in their breeding season so it is normal for them to travel out of their territory to find a mate. Go to ur local pool!!!

I live in FN QLD, a 2.5m crocodile was at my beachthe other day. People travel here to see these beautiful creatures and we must protect them and their habitat. We can't just kill them because they get in our way. More people die of vending machines falling on top of them, should we get rid of them?

I live in Cairns nth Qld, I have no problems with crocs as long as they are nowhere near where people live, there should be no debate between who should survive, Most humans are worth a keeping , crocs should be culled where people live no question about it, there was a croc in a local drain in the

The City folk have no idea what goes on in the Northern hemisphere and make opinions in the comfit and safety of armchairs. All the waterways I safely swam in as a young kid n

Calling for a cull of them is completely ridiculous, comparing them to animals such as dogs being put down is not even comparable as dogs are in our yard they are not the top of the food chain in an ecosystem. Why should Crocodiles be culled just because we want to selfishly go into their territory.

The dangers of going in or near water in Croc territory is very obvious, Crocodiles evolved to hunt and to ambush prey. If you want to go swimming use a pool. It's up to us to take responsibility to stay away from their territory, not for us to kill them just because theres a possible danger.
