Grant Denyer, our former weather presenter, current star of Dare Denyer stunts on Sunrise and former It Takes Two host, has been taken to hospital following a major accident on the NSW south coast.
The accident occurred while Denyer was in training for a show, driving a 'monster truck' at Dapto Showground, near Wollongong.
After attempting to jump five cars in the 'monster truck', Grant's vehicle landed heavily and left the star with a compressed fracture to his lower verterbrae. Further tests were to be carried out overnight.
Grant is now comfortable and resting with movement of his limbs. He was eager to get back in the seat for the Bathurst 1000 but on Sunrise, Grant's manager said this has now been ruled out.
Seven News revealed Grant's shattered vertebrae is broken into eight pieces.
Grant's recovery will take "months, not weeks", he said. He has now been moved to a Sydney hospital.

Destiny decides who you meet in your life, but it's our heart that decides who stays in our life. - Gale, TAS
Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
