With Father's Day just around the corner, we take a look at why Dads are so important.

Family counseller Sean Tonnet specialty is working with fathers and he's seen their role change over the year. He think it's because families have adopted a more co-parented approach and today's family are more varied than in the past such as single mums, single dads, blended families - the list goes on!

Sean says all the research indicates that if fathers are engaged with their children, then children will develop better socially, emotionally and cognitively. Dads are also important because the play differently with their kids; they tend to play rougher and riskier and that's good for children. 

Troy Jones is one of the creators of the 'Being Dad' DVDs. He teamed up with Australia's leading obstetrician, some financial planning mates, a nappy changing expert, a male nurse and 60 dads around Australia to uncover the mysteries of pregnancy and birth.
