The research tracked 500 people over 50 for more than 20 years, eventually proving that running could save your life from a stadium of ills.
After 19 years, just 15% of the runners had died, compared to 34% of the non-runners.
Results showed running had the following positive effects:
The dramatic findings lead Lead author Professor James Fries to claim, "If you had to pick one thing to make people healthier as they age, it would be aerobic exercise"
Regardless of such findings, the reasons many people find for not running will remain. For a wide variet of the population, running is simply not enjoyable or they have no time for it.
