When you loved something on Sunrise, you let us know about it. And when you don't appreciate something, it comes through loud and clear!
This post is about answering the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we get about Sunrise.
There are some things people don't understand about the show that to regular viewers are all just part of the fun. Ask any questions we may have missed in the comments area below...
1) Where is Brekky Central? You will find us at 52 Martin Place Sydney (corner of Elizabeth Street in a large glass-fronted building. map) It’s hard to miss as most other buildings have marble pillars. We have a large red number 7, and walls of glass – about 600 square metres of it.
2) Where's Mel? Where's Kochie? Where's Nat, Beretts or
Grant?
Whenever one of the team is on holidays or home sick, we get multiple
messages from people who are worried sick or, sometimes, offering to fill in
for them! As for Grant,
he's following his career in motor racing and does occasional special features
for us. If you missed why someone’s away, read the Behind the Scenes blogs.
4) Can I meet the team? Yes! Every day our hosts venture outside into the plaza to meet people and sign photo cards. Hosts usually venture outside for the final segment at 8.50am. You can watch the show taking place through the windows of Brekky Central any time from 6am weekdays and 7am Sundays.
5) Where did Mel/Nat get her outfit from? We try to get this info up on the website but sadly this isn’t possible every single day. When you see an outfit you like, check the behind-the-scenes pages later that day for info on where to buy it.
6) Why do we use so much paper on the set? We have looked at using laptops for the hosts but have decided against using them for the moment. Good old fashioned paper avoids all those computer reliability problems everyone experiences so often. We recycle every piece of paper, daily.
7) ROSwall - what on earth is that?
8) Is it jail or gaol? Despite much confusion whenever we use this word on the screen, 'gaol' is the official Australian spelling. To avoid the dilemma, we try to use the government's preferred term Prison or Correctional Centre.
9) Do you have a
studio audience?
At Brekky Central, Channel 7 has given new meaning to the term ‘space is
limited – act now!’. We like to act like there is a lot of space but really
it’s a team of fast, burly crew and some ingenious TV tricks that allow us to
operate in a space the size of, well, an old bank!
Anyway, surrounded by such huge glass windows, we like to think of the entire plaza as our studio audience.
But don’t just take it from us - the popular blog TV Tonight visited our crowded workspace and explains the arrangement in this post.
10) Can I do work experience with Sunrise? We have had many students do work experience with us in the past. We apologise that at this stage we are unable to help people seeking to do work experience with Sunrise. This situation will be reviewed at a later stage.
