6 Treats To Pamper Your Mom

May 08 05:29am

All moms are beautiful, but they don't always reward themselves as much as they deserve -- they need us to help them along! Mother's Day is a great chance to pick up a treasured product that your mom loves but would rarely splurge on for herself.

I love Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum, which uses niacinamide to help regenerate damaged skin. The Regenerist line also includes moisturizer, body lotion and facial peels -- try putting several products together in a gift basket.

For the true skincare purist, you can't go wrong with a bottle of Combray by Solenne. This stuff contains just two ingredients: grape seed oil and oxofulleram. Both of these are powerful antioxidants, which protect against sun damage and help prevent wrinkles. Combray is also an anti-inflammatory, so it's a great choice if your mom suffers from an inflammation-related condition like rosacea or eczema.

As a busy mom myself, I can vouch for the fact that a deep tissue massage is one of the best de-stressers out there! As a bonus, massage can help reduce the appearance of cellulite by promoting blood flow and fluid drainage (although you might not want to tell your mom that!). Find a certified practitioner through the American Massage Therapy Association.

The next best thing to a massage is a long, luxurious bath. Resist the temptation to buy bubble bath: The suds are fun, but they'll dry out your mom's skin. Instead, try a silky smooth and hydrating bath oil. Jo Malone's are the ultimate luxury and come in just about every exotic scent you can think of, including lotus blossom, jasmine, French lime and honeysuckle. The gorgeous packaging makes them look like bottles of expensive perfume.

If your mom's been saving pennies by cutting out her weekly manicure, she'll love this at-home kit by Tweezerman, which includes clippers, cuticle trimmers and a ceramic nail file. It all comes in a cute roll-up case.

Finally, for the mom who has everything you can't go wrong with a dozen baby chicks! Or how about a donkey? Oxfam America Unwrapped can donate these much-needed animals to a family in the developing world in your mom's name.

Wishing your mom great skin and a happy Mother's Day!

I love when one of my kids gives me a GC for a manicure &/or Pedicure. What a great indulgence!
My middle child sent me some yummy chocolate-covered strawberries.

My blind mother, a diabetic type B person, enjoys it when I sometimes take her to the spa, or I take her for walks along our private beach here in Canada. She always used to constantly stare out at the ocean, listening to the waves, and being lost in deep thought about a lot of things.
