Question
My Westie snores. This doesn’t happen every night, but it does occur regularly, particularly when she sleeps on her back. Is this dangerous for her? Could she be suffering from sleep apnoea?

Snoring is not uncommon in breeds such as the West Highland Terrier. In most cases, dogs will snore only during sleep and this generally causes little distress and no real health problems. However, if your dog starts to make respiratory noises during exercise then this can be more reason for concern and you will need to consult with your veterinarian as to whether surgical procedures are needed to address the problem.
