Would you please explain why dogs eat cat faeces and how to fix the issue?

Answer

Dear Katrina
Coprophagia, the technical name for the eating of faeces, is common in animal populations. Many theories have been put forward as to why dogs behave this way however it most likely they are attracted to the smell and like the taste. The faeces of well-fed cats probably contains a lot of undigested food and may be of some nutritional value to the scavenger. The best way to deter this behaviour is to add something bitter like pepper or chilli to the faeces to break the habit.
