Heath Ledger: Cruel protests devastate family

Feb 04 09:49am

As Heath's family made their sorrowful pilgrimage to New York to recover their son's body, hate-filled religious zealots told them "Heath has gone straight to hell".

Members of the Westbro Baptist Church later pulled a morbid stunt outside the Screen Actors Guild Awards mocking Heath's death - and have also threatened to picket his funeral.

In this week's New Idea we have more details on this Kansas based church, as well as their shockingly cruel open letter to Heath's family.

How cares if Heath played a role as a gay man or whether he was on drugs or sleeping with one of the Olsen twins, big deal, He's gone now so let it rest and let Heath rest in peace and give his family space to grieve and remember the Heath they cherished and loved.

Im sorry but if anyone is going to hell it is them. Who are they to judge who goes to hell and who does not??? Absolutely no one! Only God can judge us, and when their judgement day comes I hope the God remembers the pain and anguish they have caused a grieveing family. What goes around comes around

What a load of true crap!! Hyprocritical bloody God-botherers. Doesn't the quote go something like, "Let he who is without fault cast the first stone" - bet you any money you like that that are not perfect at all.

Heath Ledger provided a truly heart-warming performance in Brokeback mountain and should be remembered as a great actor and man because of that. How dare those "baptists" insult the memory of Heath in God's name?

Sad. sad, sad, both religious zealots and frenzied media should let the family grieve the loss of their much loved son, let us grieve the loss of a talented young man - rest in peace Heath.

Why? They can't let someone rest in peace?
So he portrayed a gay man in Brokeback Mountain, I wonder if they will be protesting at Robin Williams' funeral when he dies (remember him in Bird Cage) or for that matter, anyone else! RIP Heath - may you live on in Matilda.

I amsure Heath Ledger played his part well in life.He was destined to be an actor and played it well without hurting anyone except those bigots who think that they own God. Is God that small? How one could beleive in a God who is dictated to by such naroow minded people.
