As a devoted mum, sources say Terri was shocked that Britney Spears' mother Lynne has been such a neglectful role model to the troubled pop princess. Now Terri wants to personally take Britney under her wing and be the protective and nurturing 'mother' Lynne always should have been.
Croc Hunter Steve Irwin's widow is extremely concerned for Britney's wellbeing and has come up with a plan to save her life. She's offered to bring the Toxic singer - with her children, Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, if she regains custody - to Australia so she's far from the frenzy and madness in her wild life.
'Bindi's the one who said: "People like Britney who are having trouble should go to the bush with us when we do our crocodile research work,' says Terri, adding that the emotionally distraught star can even stay with her family at Australia Zoo, where she'll find serenity instead of the soap opera she now stars in.
'If Britney and her family want to go to the bush with us, we'd love to have them,' she says.
A zoo insider says Terri believes Britney's mum has done a disappointing job of raising her eldest daughter. 'Terri feels Lynne's been too busy cashing in on her daughter's stardom instead of watching out for her child.
'Lynne should have seen the warning signs years ago that fame was taking its toll on Britney and sought help for her. And when her life really started going downhill after her marriage ended, Lynne should have moved in with her and taken control of her life.'
Britney's close friend and adviser Sam Lufti has thanked the Irwins for their ‘kind and generous offer' and said that while Britney was focused on family concerns, she'd keep it in mind for a potential future visit. Britney's too busy to take Terri up on her invitation right now because she's battling with her ex-husband Kevin Federline to win back custody of their boys, who were taken by court order.
A friend of the troubled pop star says: 'It's so nice to know someone on the other side of the world is thinking of her and has her best interests at heart. That's lovely.'
The zoo insider adds: ‘Terri truly believes the zoo would be a perfect place for Britney to live for a few weeks. She could bond with the animals, as well as Bindi and her brother Robert, and realise there's more to life than clubs, partying and living in the limelight.
'She'd find the zoo fun and entertaining during the day and quiet and relatively peaceful at night, allowing her to relax and take her mind off the pressures she faces at home.
'There's a strict policy on photographers at the zoo, so Britney wouldn't be hounded like she is in LA. Also, she'd have the excitement of a trip out to the bush to catch crocs.'
Terri reached out to the lonely star after she was stunned to see her being carted off to hospital for a mental examination after a breakdown in her mansion.
She's holding out hope that Britney, 26, changes her mind and comes Down Under this year, and if she does, she'd love to have Britney join Bindi in Steve's legacy - wildlife conservation.
Bindi's LA Jungle
Bindi exclusively told New Idea all about meeting John Travolta and Kylie Minogue at the G'day USA Ball last week, and about becoming a roller-coaster daredevil! She swapped the Aussie jungle for the urban jungle as she and mum Terri flew to Hollywood for the ball.
The nine-year-old wildlife warrior got the chance to mingle with A-listers and experience life as a VIP in Tinseltown.
She told us: 't's so exciting - I love coming to parties like this. I love my dress and I really loved meeting John Travolta and Kylie Minogue - it's so much fun!'
And despite her youth, Bindi wasn't overwhelmed by all the famous faces, adding: ' also talked to Olivia Newton-John
- she's done so much for environmental projects. She's
a really nice girl!'
Speaking to Bindi just a few hundred metres away from where the Oscars will take place next month, it was easy to see why the confident and charismatic cutie is already being offered more TV work than she can possibly do - and the chance
to follow in Olivia's footsteps onto the set of a big blockbuster.
When we asked Bindi about the offers she's been getting from movie producers, she said: 'I'm doing my TV show Bindi: The Jungle Girl at the moment, and I have lots of stuff going on at the zoo so I'm telling them my dance card is full for now.
'But that's definitely something I want to do soon. I would love to do a movie with John Travolta or sing and dance like Olivia.'
After teasing Hollywood's powerbrokers, Bindi found time to take on something even more exciting than movie stardom - roller-coasters!
'I loved Disneyland and Universal Studios and we went to a theme park called Knott's Berry Farm. I went on all the biggest roller-coasters and I went upside down and everything!'
