Face Value - Read our Future on Your Face

Nov 30 02:05pm
Are you born to look like a celery stick, or does eating chocolate muffins and cream cakes make you risk turning into one yourself?

According to Australia's celebrity face reader and bestselling author Dadhichi Toth, such secrets of your future health and your weight loss success are written on your face.

The art of face reading has been used since the sixth century BC by Chinese doctors as an aid to diagnosis. And Dadhichi says the method is still relevant today.

He has read the faces of many CEOs and celebrities, and says face reading works on the premise that the face mirrors the state of the internal organs. In many ways it's similar to the naturopathic eye-reading principles of iridology.

The foundation of face reading is the shape of the face. There are four main types - round, triangular, square and oblong - although often people are a combination of two.

You can determine the shape of your face by pulling your hair back and looking in a mirror.

In addition to your face shape, the size, shape and condition of your features - such as the eyes, nose and lips - also influences your health and destiny. They can provide an insight into any health issues you may be experiencing.

'Face reading won't ever replace a doctor, but the signs below can provide vital clues that something is amiss,' Dadhichi says. 'If one of them rings alarm bells, see a GP.'

Signs and Symptoms:
Here are some face reading indicators. Remember cosmetic surgery, lifestyle or weight gain can alter your genetic face shape - which can in turn change your health and weight-loss destiny.

Eyes:

  • Sparkly eyes indicate a healthy digestive system.
  • Yellow whites indicate your liver is working overtime. Avoid fats, coffee and alcohol.
  • Tiny skin tags on the eye's edge indicate a fatty liver, so reduce dietary fat.
  • Bloodshot, persistently red eyes suggest a stressed or irritable personality with adrenal glands in overdrive, and there may also be high blood pressure issues.

Lips:

  • Thick lips indicate a food lover who's susceptible to overeating.
  • A round face with full lips will find it harder to keep weight off than a square face with full lips.
  • Thin, dry lips can indicate adrenal issues. Avoid smoking, alcohol and coffee. De-stress.
  • A deep philtrum - the grooves between your nose and lips - suggests a highly sexually adventurous person.
  • Lips that curve downwards may indicate a demanding, angry temperament that can trigger overeating under stress.

Nose:

  • Nostrils that are guarded and not visible straight on indicate the person is very cautious.
  • A red nose can indicate there are problems with excessive food and alcohol intake, and often means the liver, kidneys or reproductive organs may be working overtime. These people can get easily stressed about financial problems.

Chin:

  • Anyone with a double chin or weak jawline probably finds it difficult to stick to diets and may tend to overeat.
  • People with a strong jawline generally have few weight issues and good portion control.

Skin:

  • Skin conditions such as eczema are often telltale signs of lung problems or bronchial issues such as asthma.

Eyebrows:

  • Eyebrows that taper off naturally - not due to plucking - and get extremely sparse at the outer end can be a hint that their owner finds it hard to be disciplined, especially where diets are concerned.

Triangular:

Halle Berry, Kevin Bacon and Elle Macpherson are good examples of people with a triangular or ectomorphic face. People with this shape:

  • Find it the easiest of all the types to keep weight off.
  • Have a high metabolic rate and can eat a lot without gaining weight.
  • Possess a slender, wiry frame and long, thin muscles.
  • Are rational, intellectual and sometimes nervy - they should avoid caffeine, cigarettes, sugar and fast foods that will make them restless.

Eating Tips: Load up on oats and calcium-rich foods such as kelp, sardines, whitebait, chickpeas, sunflower seeds, broccoli and almonds to boost nervous function and beat insomnia, plus foods rich in B vitamins such as avocados, chicken, walnuts, lentils and bananas.

Round:

Round faced or endomorphic types include Bert Newton, Renee Zellweger and Drew Barrymore. People with this face shape:

  • Have full cheeks that often flush.
  • Are sensitive and emotional, which may make them prone to overeating.
  • Often express their caring and sensitivity with food gestures.
  • Are compulsive eaters by nature and find it hardest to keep weight off.
  • Can be prone to fluid retention, most often caused by excess salt.

Eating Tips: Replace table salt with flavourful herbs such as pepper, garlic, chilli, ginger or coriander. Replace starchy carbs such as white bread and white potatoes with complex carbs - wholegrain cereals, brown rice, lentils, cabbage, beetroot and sweet potato.

Square or Oblong:

Demi Moore, George Clooney and Prince William are examples of the mesomorphic face, which is square or oblong in shape. These types:

  • Tend to be well built with a heavy bone structure and low fat storage.
  • Enjoy discipline and hard work, including disciplined kinds of exercise - picture Demi bulking up and working out for various film roles.
  • Find it hard to articulate their anger calmly - this is especially the case for those with square faces. Many professional footballers are squares.
  • Should avoid alcohol and fatty foods for weight control and because some may have an excess of bile, which indicates stress on the liver.

Eating Tips: These workaholic types should eat small but frequent meals rich in high protein foods such as lean beef, tuna, cottage cheese, tofu, lentils and legumes. Spirulina is also helpful.

Britney Spears

Dadhichi says: 'Britney has haunting eyes with shadows that flare out from under them. These are rare markings that suggest a person is prone to disturbance and may behave irrationally. She also has a bulbous nose - a sign of an excessive personality.'

Nicole Kidman

Dadhichi says: 'Nicole is a mix of the nervy triangular face and the more practical oblong face. This suggests a practical attitude towards diet, but her nervy face shape suggests she needs small amounts of fuel regularly.'

Kylie Minogue:

Dadhichi says: 'Kylie is the extreme end of the triangular or heart-shaped face. People with this face type often exhibit highly-strung behaviour - restlessness, fidgeting and insomnia. They are very creative and don't easily put on weight, but they can push themselves too hard and need to listen to their body's signals when they're overdoing it.'
