Toddler tantrums
Q: How can I deal with my toddler's temper tantrums?
A: Take time to teach your child how to do something, but don't do it for them. For example, if you take their spoon away because they're making a mess, and they then throw a tantrum, give them food they can pick up easily and cleanly with a spoon, as well as some finger food.
Don't resort to feeding them yourself. Also, you can always walk away from the child, but stay close enough to ensure their safety. If the tantrum doesn't stop, tell the child you want them to stop by the time you've counted to three.
Count aloud slowly. If the tantrum continues, pick them up gently and take them to their room. Tell them they can come out when they've finished and are ready to behave.
