Put a spring in your step and fight fatigue with these natural energy boosters.
1. Get moving
When you feel sleepy the hardest thing to do is exercise, but increasing your physical activity, particularly by walking, actually increases your energy levels.
2. Drink more
Water, that is. Dehydration may cause symptoms of fatigue. Recharge your batteries with a long, cool glass of water.
3. Eat for energy
Low iron levels, particularly common in women who have heavy periods, can make you exhausted. Up your intake of iron-rich foods such as red meat, legumes, green leafy vegies, free-range eggs and chicken.
4. Tackle stress
Anxiety, stress and worrying can zap your energy. Counteract these negative emotions by consciously adding some relaxation activities into your week – it can be as simple as reading a book for 10 minutes.
5. Vitamin boosters
If your energy levels are flagging, you may be lacking some essential vitamins, such as magnesium, potassium or the B group. Contact your GP.
