Television glamour girl, music queen, movie star – you would think there’s nothing Natalie Bassingthwaighte hasn’t conquered. But one dream still eludes the gorgeous star – she wants a baby.
Yet, for now, the 33-year-old and her beau of three years, drummer Cameron McGlinchey, are happy to put that on hold. The immediate future for host Natalie only involves some much-deserved sleep-ins. Oh, and taking on Hollywood too.
Being around dancers, has your dancing improved?
Not really! I did the running man a few weeks ago – I used to do it when I was young so I’ve always been good at that. I did dancing as a kid but I prefer to just have a little boogie on the dance floor every now and then. I can still do the splits, you know! I test it out every so often – but it hurts afterwards.
Your album 1000 Stars is a hit, you are on a top-rating television show and you star in the movie Prey, which is out in May. Do you need a holiday?
I’m exhausted hearing about it, let alone having done it! At times I do need to stop and smell the roses, and look at everything I’ve achieved. So I’m about to do that.
Cameron and I thought we should travel, but I haven’t been home in Melbourne for longer than a day for so long, so we’re going to have four weeks at home.
What role does Cameron have in your life?
Oh my God – huge! I’m lucky I have him. He understands my career. We’re both the same as far as our jobs go, and it’s hard to make definite plans. The greatest thing is to have someone who’s supportive by your side.
Are you still planning on a big brood of seven?
I’m changing my mind on that! Having seven kids seems more ridiculous the older I get. When I read about the American ‘octomum’, I said: ‘I don’t know about that now!’
But do you still want kids?
Of course. It’s a time thing at the moment – and it comes down to being in the same place together! If it happens now, we’d be ecstatic, but there are a few other things in our careers we’d like to attempt. We’re definitely not afraid of having babies.
Do you think he’ll pop the question soon?
You would have to ask him! We don’t talk about that as much as we talk about our life together and a family. Our life is more than just having a wedding. We love spending time together.
You head to LA in June. Is Cameron going too?
He’s really busy with stuff here, so we’ll take it in turns. I’ll go over for three weeks, then he’ll come over, and then I’ll come back. But that’s how we’ve been living for the past three years, so I’m sure it’ll be fine.
So what’s the plan for when you hit LA?
I’ve been really itching to step up this acting thing. No-one knows me over there so I’ll have to start from scratch. I could work in a cafe – it could be kind of fun!
Hopefully by the time that stupid broad decides to have one, she will be post-menopausal.
get off the pills
She is a hard worker and very intelligent, go and bother yourselves in front of the mirror instea
1) she had them all at once. not many women can actually have 8 kids, all at the same time.
2) that she had 6 children before these adorable little babies.
