Improve your brain-power in six easy steps

Brain Aerobics

In the pursuit of better memory and a sharper mind it really is 'use it or lose it'. Try these six simple tactics today to get you thinking faster than ever...

1. Do your favourite crossword, but give yourself a time limit in which to complete it.

2. Shake up the morning ritual by showering with your eyes closed, brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand or varying the order in which you do your normal routine.

3. If you enjoy reading, do it out loud sometimes.

4. If you drive or walk to work, take a different route from the normal one.

5. At work, use your non-dominant hand for tasks such as stapling (carefully!), turning machines on or using the phone.

6. At dinner, close your eyes and identify food on your plate only by smell, taste and touch.

This sounds great. I already tried to move my computer mouse to my left hand at work, and it works a treat!

I used to do these weird things. But theres a lot more than these simple steps. Like half an hour exercise, taking a musical instrument, taking a hobby, thinking ahead, and by the end of the day take some time to remember the day's events
Nutritious diet would help too. Especially fish oil, I could concentrate better iin classes

At 69 I like large crosswords and crosswords with no cues, only a couple of letters. They certainly keep your mind alert, but I can't get the hang of cryptic crosswords
