What is it?
Similar to the Atkins Diet, but instead of cutting out carbohydrates it just limits them. There are three phases - Phase One involves a two-week virtual carbohydrate ban to promote weight loss of up to 6kg, then in Phase Two you introduce "good carbs" and in Phase Three the dieter returns to a healthy and balanced diet.

Good Points
The fat you eat is 'good', such as olive oil rather than burgers and bacon. And you're allowed to eat vegetables.

Bad Points
The fat content is still high - bad for heart problems and cholesterol levels.

Hassle Factor
Much of the initial weight loss may just be water loss caused by cutting out carbs. It can be limiting if you don't like dairy products, as there are a lot of them. It can be hard to find the time to prepare meals too, and it's easy to be tempted by fast food.

Verdict
