Quick kilojoule zappers

Oct 15 03:26pm

Scoffed one too many bickies and chocolates and can't stand the guilt? Then it's time to fight back with these quick energy burners.

  • Four Arnott's Tee Vee Snacks, Malt Sticks = 220 kilojoules
Burn them off by standing with your arms outstretched in front of you, holding a glass of water filled almost to the brim. March up and down for three minutes, raising your knees as high as possible. Focus on not spilling the water. Repeat three times, pausing for 30 seconds between each set.
  • One Cadbury Freddo (15gm) = 339 kilojoules

Burn it off by standing with your feet hip-width apart and bending down into a squat position, keeping your back straight. Jump backwards and forwards as high and as far
as you can. Jump to the left, then to the right. This counts as one round. Complete two
sets of 10 rounds, and between rounds resting for 30 seconds.

  • One Allen's Milko Stick = 177 kilojoules

Burn it off by starting by lying face down in a standard push-up position, with your forearms and toes on the floor and your body raised up off the floor. Bringing your left knee up to your chest, touch your toes on the floor and then straighten your leg back
to the starting position, before repeating the exercise leading with your right knee. Continue this action for around two minutes if you can.

Trying to shift the last 5cm off your muffin top? The answer may be in the glass of orange juice you're having with your breakfast every day. Here are the best ways for a 65kg woman to burn off a selection of fluid favourites.

  • Diet Coke, 600ml, 9KJ: Two-min sleep
  • V8 Vegetable Juice, 250ml, 177KJ: Leisurely 1 hour walk
  • Berri Apple Juice, 200ml, 360KJ: Leisurely 15 min cycle
  • Ribena (per-mix) fruit drink, 250ml, 443 KJ: Light housework for 40 mins
  • Red Bull, 250ml can, 480KJ: Shopping for 55 mins
  • Lipton Iced Tea - Peach, 500ml, 592KJ: Washing the car for one hour
  • Powerade - Orange, 600ml, 802K: Backyard basketbal, 30 mins
  • Coca Cola, 600ml, 1080KJ: Slow jog (8km/h for 30 mins)
  • Goulburn Valley - Banana flavoured milk, 600ml, 1885 KJ: Hiking for one hour

Top tip: Be careful not to equate ‘low kilojoule' with ‘healthy'. Many low kilojoule drinks aren't ideal to have every day for other reasons, such as containing too much added salt or artificial sweeteners.

i think that this demonstration of how kilojules and fat and sugar content can be burnt off is a fantastic idea. as a woman and having seen this i think it should be more wide spread and include things like foods that you eat out and meats and cereals too. id even go as far as too say that if too.

Hi,
Retired medical guy here and looking at the drinks you recommend is a joke. The only one in there that is good is the Liptons tea. The rest has heaps of sugar and chemicals. People only need to eat small ortions of lean meat (cut off excess fat), fresh vegetables, rice, fruit & exercise .

Bneseoul06 - they weren't recommending drinking those drinks or implying that they were the best ones to drink. It was just a list of typical drinks that are commonly consumed.

They are not actually recommending any of these drinks bneseoul06.
If you perhaps read over it properly you will see they are simply stating that these drinks are peoples favourites and then suggesting ways the kilojoules can be burnt off.

"retired medical guy" - only joke I saw.

You'll also note that it states Lipton Iced Tea not regular Lipton tea. The Ice Tea mix has loads of sugar in it.
