I love the Emmy's. There are no agendas, no missions to save the world, no shows I haven't heard of and the stars look so fantastic - All happy and tanned after a summer of lounging around Malibu. But this year's awards were even better as the female stars shone like never before.

Christina Applegate stopped the show as she strode in looking radiant and healthy after her battle with breast cancer "I've got a pretty dress on and lipstick, and it's something I haven't done in two months. It really feels good to be here. That's what life's all about" she said on the red carpet.

Christina was voted being best dressed by New Idea readers in our online poll along with Jennifer Love Hewitt who showed off her much talked about curves in a stand out black and white dress. Desperate Housewives star, Felicity Huffman was having a ball and her co-star Marcia Cross showed everyone that new mums can still look hot!

I also loved seeing one of my favourite actresses Glenn Close win her award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. In her acceptance speech Glenn paid tribute to her fellow nominees - Sally Field, Mariska Hargitay, Dame Judi Dench, Kyra Sedgwick, Dame Helen Mirren and Holly Hunter - saying: "We're proving that complicated, powerful, mature women are sexy, high entertainment and can carry a show."
We hear you Glenn - here is to more strong, clever, beautiful women on TV!
