Just a few hours after Nicole Kidman gave birth to Sunday Rose, Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves have proudly welcomed their first child into the world.

On Monday evening at 6:22 pm the 24-year-old Brazilian model and handbag designer gave birth to a 7 lb., 4 oz. healthy boy in Los Angeles. Actor McConaughey, who is often voted one of the sexiest men in Hollywood, told a US magazine: "Camila and I were side by side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world - having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure - raising one, together."

The couple revealed their son's name - Levi Alves McConaughey - and explained the meaning behind it.

"Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible," McConaughey said.

6:22 p.m represents his favourite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible. The middle name of the new Hollywood baby is taken from his mother's last name. Thus Levi Alves bears an incorporated name of his two parents.

Matthew's oldest brother Rooster, 54, was very happy about his brother having a baby boy. He says jokingly: "You can get away with dropping 'em a couple times, and they'll still be okay. Can't really do that with a little girl." Rooster, father of two, must know then.

Matthew, 38, the youngest of three boys and son of a school teacher and gas station owner from Texas, has been dating the Brazilian model for two years when announcing in January this year Camila was 12 weeks pregnant. The Rio-born beauty now plans to take off from business and concentrate on motherhood instead.
