Antonia Kidman - Log on and learn

With cyber bullying and stalking in the forefront of parents' minds there's plenty to be fearful about kids going online. The flip side is the internet's an incredible resource for children. If used responsibly, it's a great way to expand knowledge. Try these cool sites.

NASA Kids' Club

Follow the links to the Kids' Club to find one of the best sites for kids crazy about science and space. Budding astronauts learn about life on a shuttle and explore our solar system. Play games such as Roving on Mars and build an Ion Engine.

National Geographic

Like the publication and channel, there's boundless information about our wonderful world. Kids can play recycling games, learn about their favourite animal or discover activities to try at home.

Mathletics

Mathletics is used in schools all over the world. Parents need to subscribe - it covers Kindergarten to Year 12. My daughter loves this site - it's all about mathematics dressed up as a game.

LEGO

LEGO enthusiasts will find this site heaven. Kids can show off their own creations, visit the LEGO factory to build the model of their dreams or play the latest games and puzzles at LEGO City.

Miniclip

Games, games and more games! It's divided into puzzles, sports, action and shoot-'em-up games. Once kids know about it, there's no turning back!

Nick

Nickelodeon characters are a big part of this site - H2O, Jimmy Neutron and my sons' favourite SpongeBob SquarePants. Kids will love virtual world of Nicktropolis where they can hang out with friends, decorate their room or adopt a pet.

Club Penguin

You'll need to buy membership to this virtual world where kids play as their penguin alter ego. They can chat, play games and earn coins to buy things to decorate their igloo. It's highly regulated so safety filters block their personal information.

Cyberspace is exciting for kids, but what happens online is hard to regulate so responsibility stops with parents. It's up to you to educate yourself and your kids about any potential dangers.
