'First I put on [Tchaikovsky's] 1812 Overture,' she says. 'Then I put a scarf on my head. No shoes. I get my broom ready, with pantyhose over the bristles, a bucket of warm water, my parmesan cheese shaker full of bicarbonate of soda and a spray bottle full of white vinegar.'
After putting all the bits and pieces into a 'clutter bucket' it's time to start.
'I stand in the middle of the room, shake the bicarb over the surfaces, spray it with vinegar and wipe it, top to bottom,' she says.
Shannon uses pantyhose instead of mops and cleaning cloths because they cut through soap scum with or without the help of a cleaning product due to the type of weave and the fibre.
When the cleaning is done, they can be thrown in the wash and are then ready for next time.
'And don't forget to clean your broom,' Shannon adds. 'I can't believe how many people don't do that. I just use a bucket of water and cake soap, then stand it out in the sunshine - sunlight kills the bacteria.'
