Hoisin beef stir fry

Ingredients
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2cm piece fresh ginger, peeled, finely grated
  • 2 tsps Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 tsps brown sugar
  • 500g beef stir-fry strips
  • 1 bunch broccolini, trimmed and halved
  • 1 / 2 small cauliflower (600g), cut into florets
  • 2 tblsps vegetable oil
  • 1 carrot, cut into long, thin strips
  • 4 green spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 / 2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 / 4 cup kecap manis
  • 1 / 4 cup dry sherry
  • 120g packet thick crispy noodles
  • Boiled rice, to serve

1. Combine garlic, ginger, spice and sugar in a large bowl. Add beef. Mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
2. Boil, steam or microwave broccolini and cauliflower, separately, until tender. Drain.
3. Heat half the oil in a hot wok. Add beef, in two batches, and stir-fry for about 1 minute, or until browned and just cooked through. Remove and cover to keep warm.
4. Heat remaining oil in same hot wok. Add carrot and stir-fry until just tender. Add spring onions, sauce, kecap manis and sherry. Bring to boil. Return beef with broccolini and cauliflower. Stir-fry until hot. Remove from heat. Stir in noodles.
5. Serve stir-fry with boiled rice.
