Preheat your oven to a moderately hot 180C.
Using your food processor, cream together the butter and sugar until it turns a nice white colour. Add the sifted flour and cocoa and combine well. Then, using a wooden spoon, add the cornflakes and mix until it is well combined.
Roll out into balls the size of 20 cent pieces and gently press together. Place onto a lightly greased, paper-lined tray and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until cooked through.
Remove afghans from oven and cool on a cake rack.
When at room temperature, simply melt some dark chocolate in the microwave and spoon a little over each afghan and top with a pecan or other nut of your choice.
