DIY Spa Rituals

Re-create the spa at home with these do-it-yourself treatments.


WATER

Thalassotherapy bath to help increase cell metabolism and eliminate toxins from the body.

YOU NEED:

a few sheets of nori seaweed
1 cup crushed coarse sea salt
1 tablespoon kelp powder
pinch spirulina
1 teaspoon macadamia oil

HOW TO:
Crumble nori sheets and mix with remaining ingredients. Run a tepid bath and add this nutritious blend.

AIR

Toning Aromatherapy Facial Mist to help calm, moisturise and balance normal skin.

YOU NEED:

60ml of distilled water
6 drops lavender essential oil
1 drop clary sage essential oil
1 drop chamomile essential oil
4 drops lemon essential oil

HOW TO:
Pour all ingredients into a spray mist bottle. Shake and spritz onto skin.


EARTH

Clay Facial Mask to help cleanse all skin types.

YOU NEED:

1 teaspoon of French green clay
1 teaspoon kaolin clay
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon rosewater
2 drops rose geranium essential oil

HOW TO:
Mix the French green and kaolin clays together. Add in the remaining ingredients. Apply to dry skin for 10 minutes, wash off and moisturise.


HEAT

Balinese Boreh to stimulate and increase blood circulation.
*Not suitable for pregnant women

YOU NEED:

6 drops sandalwood essential oil
1 tablespoon almond or jojoba oil
1–2 teaspoons rice powder
½ teaspoon sandalwood powder
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, whole cloves and grated galangal (or extra ginger)

HOW TO:

Combine oils and set aside. Grind remaining ingredients in a mortar and pestle with warm water to form a paste, and massage over the body. Add oils to a warm bath and soak away the paste.

by the time you buy all the things you need for these treatments you may as well go and pay a professional to do it.

Some people enjoy making their own things. Professionals use too many chemicals. At least with this you know what you are putting on your skin.
I know a shop that sells all of these ingredients so it's all in one place. Fantastic shop.
