Party Make-Up: Fake Your Lashes

Open your eyes this party season with these tips on how to fake your lashes.

"Lashes create fullness and evoke sexiness," points out celebrity eyelash couturier Christina Smith, who has collaborated on a line of false lashes with M.A.C. "They open and frame the eyes; they can create an enotion or mood – depending on the style worn – and, most importantly they can positively affect someone's confidence." Smith adds that you can achieve a softer look by using lashes that are long in the centre and short on the sides, accompanied with neutral eyeshadow. But for an exotic or evening look, she loves stronger colours or hues with high shine, teamed with false lashes with "more hair and a lash that is flared to the outside".

CREATE IT

Finish your eye make-up, including curling your lashes and applying mascara to your natural lash, before attaching false lashes.
Hold a mirror below your chin and look down into the reflection so your eyelid is fully extended.
Apply a thin, even amount of eyelash adhesive to the lash band. Let it dry for about 30 seconds, or until it becomes sticky.
Affix the lash on top of your lash line, using an orange stick to secure it. Let lash dry for a few seconds.

AFTER-CARE

"When removing lashes from packaging or the lash line, gently lift one end and peel off slowly and carefully to keep lashes intact," advises Smith. "Store lashes in a cool, dry area as humidity or warm temperatures (often found in the bathroom) may compromise the curl of the lash. Be sure to peel off the old glue completely before you use them again."

Ive been wearing false eyelashes for a while now & i cant get enough of them . People always comment on how beautiful my eyes look & how they love my eye make-up but have no idea im wearing fake lashes. I try to buy ones that look natural, long but not too over the top & no one knows my secret.
