4 Restaurant Slimming Tips

May 13 08:45pm

Dining out can be quite the challenge when you’re looking to knock off a few pounds or simply eat healthy. Here are four slimming tips you can use at your next restaurant outing:

1) Think small: Restaurant portions are often gigantic. Scale back by ordering one to two non-fried appetizers instead of an entrée – or consider sharing an entrée with a friend. You can also divide your main course in half and take half home for a future meal.

2) Delete the bread basket: Each slice adds about 100 calories – plus 50 additional calories for every teaspoon of butter or olive oil you add. That said, politely (and immediately!) ask to have the entire basket removed.

3) Lose liquid calories: Beverage calories add up quickly – calories that don’t necessarily fill you up. Try your best to pass on soda, fruit drinks, fruit juice, smoothies, fattening cocktails, and coffee loaded with milk and sugar. Instead, drink lots of water, seltzer, and unsweetened ice tea. For coffee and tea, use skim and/or 1% reduced fat milk – and limit the sugar to 1 packet per cup.

4) Special request: Speak up and ask your waiter for a few substitutions. Request foods which are baked, steamed, broiled, grilled, poached, or roasted….  and ask to replace fatty French fries with a baked potato or side vegetable. Also, request your sandwich on whole wheat bread instead of white, specify brown rice instead of white rice and ask for salad dressing, gravy, and sauces on the side. These minor adjustments translate into major calorie savings.

Please tell me something I haven't already known for years!
Eat more salads and steamed vegetables (NOT potatoes).
Have an appetizer in place of a main course (if the restaurant permits this).
Skip dessert. Or skip the appetizer. Who says you have to have a three (or more) course meal when you go out to eat?
Stop eating when you feel "satisfied" (as opposed to stuffed).
Eat at "healthy" restaurants (fast food places are NOT healthy).

I think these are good suggestions, but, I have a few more. It usually takes a while for your order to come, so while waiting, ask the waiter for plenty of water. Drinking lots of water will keep you from feeling so hungry and overeating.

need organic ideas that will help heal the lining of stomach.
And I need to lose weight. I am 5'4"and I am 62 yrs. old, but thankfully every one ask if I am 47 or 52. I don't eat alot, but the metabolism just doesn't kick in. So to heal my lining of stomach with out medications is how I want to do it.

At the end, it said to ask for salad dressing, gravy, and other sauces on the side. That wasn't very helpful...because when something yummy is right in front of you, you will be tempted to eat it! There are always good substitutions for salad dressing. For example, fresh lemon juice or balsamic vinegar are good substitutes. Gravy is overall really fatty, and sauces like ketchup are fine.

Or maybe you can just never eat again and you can stay home in your little room and just starve until all you are is skin and bones.

Hello, Mr. Obvious! If you don't know that veggies are more healthy than fries, broiled stuff is healthier than fried stuff and anything but water is full of calories, then you are too freaking stupid to leave your house anyway.

Most of this is common sense.I noticed tgif offers smaller portions for cheaper price this also makes sense.
Also need to watch the sauces poured over chicken or noodles. They tend to carry tons of calories also.fresh slasa or veggies on top is great.Instead of alfredo sauce or butter garlic sauce over chicken.
Happy dieting for summer swimsuit body!!Water w lime/lemon is great alternative to 100 calorie drink.
