Cloth Bespoke Burlap

Cloth Bespoke Burlap

In an era where 'reduce, reuse, recycle' is the antidote to a throwaway society, designer Julie Paterson has taken this to heart by transforming jute coffee sacks into desirable home furnishings. After discussing the parallels of good coffee and good design with a barista friend, Julie was inspired to begin handprinting relevant words and phrases on to the fair trade burlap material. It's a return to tested craft methods and a made-to-order process where nothing is wasted. The tactile quality and subtle colour of the fabric showcases the beauty of reuse.

2. bridonta - Oct 20 07:44am
who made of those items ??
3. elsharrington2003 - Oct 20 09:20am
This is just what I have been looking for to inspire my home decorating and find interesting sources. The comment about item costing is valid, but simply take inspiration from the idea and find something similar at cheaper retailers like Ikea etc or mix one piece you love with lots of cheaper ones.
4. mukmik_36 - Oct 20 12:19pm
are these thes best inventions for home deco in year 2008? seriously, things like the butterfly wallpaper and the japanese cupboard or whatever it is look so ordinary and i bet you would cost a fortune to buy.

if i had the cash, i think i can produce something better- seriously.

6. leahdarwin - Oct 20 01:30pm
I love the idea of the drawer in between the washing machine and the dryer, I have asked my hubby to make something similar out of melamine.
7. inder_mjit - Oct 20 06:02pm
all these are very expensive does any one know how to renovate the whole kitchen in a budget of $2000 .
8. nestorjlimph - Oct 20 08:17pm
are we really in the age of making things expensive just by name? who could have done something like that chair with natural rattan or vine instead of twisted paper and probably cost cheaper than that brand.sometimes people think they can get away with other peoples money by spending too much in advertising and promotions. advertising and journalism and media are mostly the cause of troubles these days.
