Nothing beats eating alfresco – so why not cook outside, too?
As a nation, we’re loving outdoor living more than ever – not just for kicking back or enjoying a bit of backyard cricket, but for the whole experience of dining out with friends and family. After all, everything tastes better alfresco!
Of course, if you’re eating outdoors, you might as well be cooking there, too, and today’s backyard barbecues have gone way beyond the humble sausage sizzle. Now there’s not only a huge range of cooking options to choose from – ever-grander grills, pizza ovens and the rest – but also a growing trend towards replicating your entire kitchen in your garden.

Before you splash out on a state-of-the-art outdoor cooking station complete with prep space, bar fridge and sink, consider – how often will you actually use an outdoor kitchen? If you have a big family and you spend a great deal of time entertaining, a fully equipped cooking space could be a great investment.

For an easy way to bring life to your outdoor kitchen why not create an edible garden? Place a few pots of herbs next to your cooking area, or incorporate vegies in the form of vertical pots or planter troughs. Take in the greenery while cooking with your own homegrown ingredients.
