When winter’s last gust dissipates and the sparkling sunshine of spring begins to filter through, my heart trills. I get excited at the thought of dappled sunlight through branches and “t-shirt and jeans” days, when all you need is a cardigan. I’m sure that stylist Sibella Court gets excited, too – she heads to New York, casts around her artful eye and, full of inspiration, weaves her magic back at her Paddington emporium, The Society Inc.

This gorgeous corner store undertakes a seasonal change from one theme to another. A few weeks ago, I made my first visit and discovered a space filled with pumpkins, chess pieces and leather notebooks in a rich tapestry of oranges, reds and deep browns. Popping in this past weekend, the store is awash in a fresh palette that embraces the sun and nature. Stencils Sibella picked up in New York make their mark on the whitewashed floor, with words such as ‘pattern maker’ and ‘chimney sweeper’ that reflect her latest ‘Merchants & Traders’ theme. Elsewhere are ceramic plates and tumblers, sea urchins and coral, and linen and hessian cushions displayed in Sibella’s effortlessly elegant vignettes. Teamed with the new theme is a limited edition fandeck of Murobond colours to tie the whole look together. For inspiration and a style revival, The Society Inc is a beautiful and beguiling shop to fall in love with on a lazy Saturday.
