Did you ever play that game in high school, ‘if you could be a famous celebrity, who would you be?' Well, we still play it here at Home Beautiful. Except that we forgo supermodels and movie stars for industrial designers, high-end labels for high-end architects and designer clothing for designer chairs ... you get the gist, yes?
Who would I be? Glad you asked! When it comes to architects, it would have to be a cross between Zaha Hadid and Zahava Elenberg. Not only do these raven-haired beauties share impossibly exotic first names, both eschew convention, helping to carve out modern masterpieces using angles, light and juxtaposition to stunning effect.

Zaha Hadid's design for a civil courts in Madrid.
It also helps that the designers are incredibly beautiful as well... sigh.
Speaking of incredibly beautiful....when it comes to industrial design I'd definitely have to be one of the gals from Front Design. Intelligent, playful and always a little puzzling, this ingenious design quartet always come up with provocative ideas. We featured this Blow Away vase in our June issue.

I also adore these bookshelf cupboards.
See? Beauty and brains, no fair.

Finally, the chair conundrum; well, I've given this a lot of thought over the years. Despite its name, I truly can't get away from Eero Saarinen's Womb chair. A classic, this comfortable, casual and well-cushioned design is probably the closest representation of my character.
