As horses gallop by kicking up their heels, fillies of a different kind sip champagne and size up the competition trackside. Yep, that right ladies and gents, it's Melbourne Cup time again and in less than two weeks the scramble to look your hottest will begin.
On the record, women splash out on spray tans, hair, makeup and nails but off the record, it's comparable to a Hollywood awards night, with all kinds of nips and tucks taking place to ensure the lingering paparazzi don't spot -gasp- a wrinkle on your brow.
It's a know fact that Melbourne Cup is all about looking your very best and here are my top three tips to looking like a fine filly on the day.
1. Go with what suits you! While my fashionista friends might squawk at this concept, I truly believe that you should opt for a hat, headband or fascinator that accentuates your features rather than going for something that looks bad, but is in fashion. If you look great, you'll feel great and nothing is hotter than that - right?
2. Keep it simple! Ok, there are 2 schools of thought out on red lipstick but I personally think it is WAY too high maintenance. While it does look great, it also requires constant touch-up and those porta-loo's just aren't inviting enough to visit every 20 minutes. (Sorry Kenny).
3. Prepare for anything! It's been known to rain at the races, leaving girls frantically tugging at their tissues to banish panda eyes. So, avoid a beauty blunder by opting for a long-lasting lipstick to ensure your makeup stays the day.
Hope these tips help and good luck backing a winner.
Lots of love and lip-glosses,
Yaz xxx
