Lindsay Lohan has been arrested for drunk driving in Santa Monica - her second bust in less than three months.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept., 21-year-old Lohan was nailed around 2:15am near Pico Boulevard and Main Street early Tuesday morning American-time.
Lohan quietly surrendered herself to Beverly Hills Police Department for an alleged driving under the influence incident over the American Memorial Day weekend in May, and is due in court on August 24 to face charges of driving with a blood alcohol level greater than .08 and misdemeanour hit and run as her Mercedes convertible mounted the curb on Sunset Boulevard.
Having finally turned 21 - the legal drinking age in America - earlier this month whilst in Promises Rehab Centre in Malibu, Lindsay has been voluntarily wearing a SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet for the past couple of weeks, showing it off as she was photographed in a bikini on the beach in Malibu.
It has been reported that Lindsay was arrested for possession of cocaine, driving under the influence, transporting a narcotic into a custodial facility and driving on a suspended license. Sources say her blood alcohol level was between .12 and .13, well over the .08 Californian legal limit.
Lohan was stopped after Californian police received an emergency call from a vehicle being chased by another vehicle - the chasing vehicle, a white Denali, was being driven by Lohan as she tore after a Cadillac Escalade.
Initially suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, a field sobriety test - essentially where the arresting officer gets her to walk in a straight line with one hand on her nose - was conducted and she was subsequently arrested for DUI.
At the police station, a search of her person was conducted, and cocaine was found in her pants pocket.
Cooperative at the time, Lindsay nevertheless refused to submit to a PASD - Preliminary Alcohol Screening Device - which is a chemical test administered to determine blood alcohol levels prior to taking the suspect for processing at the Police Department.
Lindsay's arraignment for her latest arrest is set for August 24 at 8:30am - amazingly enough, the same day that she's set to appear in a Beverly Hills Court for her previous DUI arrest.
Lindsay's attorney, Blair Berk, has issued the following statement:
"Addiction is a terrible and vicious disease. Since Lindsay transitioned to outpatient care, she has been monitored on a SCRAM bracelet and tested daily in order to support her sobriety. Throughout this period, I have received timely and accurate reports from the testing companies. Unfortunately, late yesterday I was informed that Lindsay had relapsed. The bracelet has now been removed. She is safe, out of custody and presently receiving medical care."
Lindsay has returned to rehab, but not to the Promises Rehab Centre in Malibu - where she recently spent 45 days.
The maximum sentence Lindsay was looking at for the original DUI and hit and run charges was 6 months for each charge.
But after last night's arrest, with Lindsay being charged with another DUI, Lindsay could face up to one year in jail if convicted of both charges.
But, wait, there's more! As she was also charged with felony possession of cocaine, she's also looking at a maximum of three years in jail.
But, as she was also busted driving on a suspended license, that charge carries a maximum of one year in jail - by comparison, Paris Hilton was sentenced to 45 days for the same charge.
In a worst case scenario, Lilo could face SIX YEARS in jail!
I doubt that she'll get a six year sentence! It would be very unlikely.
Drunk driving, again! I mean, she's been arrested millions of times before for drunk driving, but she was never even at a legal age to drink alchohol and she never got more than a warning and a few fines! Cocaine on top of that!
Drunk driving, again! I highly doubt she'll ever get six years for that. She's wormed her way out of several sentences before.
Plus cocaine on top of that! Gee Lindsay, you can't be that dumb.
Also, she only just recently turned 21 and yet she's been arrested before for drunk driving and she wasn't even at a legal age to drink alchohol!
"The maximum sentence Lindsay was looking at for the original DUI and hit and run charges was 6 months for each charge.
But after last night's arrest, with Lindsay being charged with another DUI, Lindsay could face up to one year in jail if convicted of both charges."
The maths is all wrong
i think that instead of focusing on the actual crime, look at why the crime....could be a cry for help..
