Grey's Mortuary for Isaiah Washington

Jun 08 02:56pm

Isaiah Washington, who played Dr. Burke in 'Grey's Anatomy', has been fired from the hit hospital show.

Howard Bragman, Washington's agent, has confirmed that series creator Shonda Rhimes told Washington over the telephone that he was not coming back for the show's fourth season.

Having wrapped up in America, the show has spawned a spin-off, to be called 'Private Practice', set in California and featuring Kate Walsh as Dr. Addison Montgomery in the leading role.

After uttering a homosexual slur toward fellow cast mate T.R. Knight, Washington's future on the show was always less than certain.

Washington raged "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it."

By comparison, Knight - who plays the super-soppy George - had previously expressed some uncertainty as to his position on the show but has now been granted a payrise for the fourth season, due to kick off towards the end of 2007 in the United States.

Are you going to miss Dr. Burke?

Too bad he isn't Paris Hilton...he could of gotten away with it. I think that as long as the actor himself is committed to his work and is completing his lines appropriately, his personal issues or interactions shouldn't be an issue for him to lose his job.

You cant allow someone to abuse other people at there place of work, If this type of abuse was reported where i work I'm sure someone would also have been fired

Burke and Christina were my favourite characters. When they broke up at the end of season 3, it was sooooo sad but I seriously thought that they would get back together. I'm surprised that they fired him -he was such a strong and important character. There must have been heaps more going on that what the public heard.

It just shows the disproprtionate influence of homosexuals in the film/television industry.

Isiah Washington made the fatal mistake in the entertainment industry by flashing the H card in the public forum. His personal insecurity and prejudice which discriminated and has made public another persons personal life was not his decision to make. From memory this all came out over a pay dispute while all actors were jostling for the highest cut but it seems to have backfired in his face. His character was ok, and he could have made it great, but as soon as the H thing came out they star

So, he said the wrong thing, let him say sorry and get on with the show, the show's not much without him.

Yes! I am going to miss his character, he made an unfortunate slip up and it cost him.

I find the character of george to wet and would like to see his character have a bit of substance or get rid of him altogether? as for meredith I cannot stand her at all!
