It appears that the "Smile" on Lily Allen's face has turned upside down once more - the UK popster has admitted that she's currently battling alcoholism.

Blaming her constant touring, she says that the pressure on touring behind her hit album 'Alright, Still' has turned her into an alcoholic heading for an early death.

With plans to start recording her second album, she's hopefully that returning to the studio will help her get herself back in the straight and narrow.

She wrote on her My Space page "I'm an alcoholic now. It's not good and that's why I want to get back into the studio.

"I've actually pulled myself aside and said it will kill me if I keep it up. I've got to stop abusing myself because as far as I'm concerned every loon hates me now."

Lily isn't the only one concerned for her health - actor father Keith Allen, currently featured in 'Robin Hood' as the Sheriff of Nottingham, has jumped to her side and rallied in agreement that battling the pressures of international fame has its pitfalls. "The fans think it is a wonderful life when it's actually monumentally dull and spirit-breaking."

Should Lily take a long break from touring to help her recover from what ales [sic] her?
