Want to achieve the cascading and ultra glam waves of
Mischa Barton, Ashley Olsen and
Le-Ann Rimes but don't know the first thing about creating curls?
Don't worry! Hair expert Kevin Murphy gives FAMOUS some handy heat styling hints:
1. After washing and towel-drying your hair, apply a pearl-sized amount of curl holding product to the mid-lengths and ends of your locks and dry as normal. Try Kerastase Nutritive Elasto-Curl Mousse, $34.
2. Use tongs or hot rollers to create soft barrel curls and flicks, minus the frizz.
3. If you've opted for hot tongs, you'll need to clamp them shut for approximately 10 seconds before gently releasing the curl. If you're working with hot rollers you'll need to leave your hair untouched for approximately 15-20 minutes while the rollers cool completely.
4. For more casual curls, gently rake your fingers through your hair to loosen the ringlets.
5. If dishevelled waves are more your thing, flip your head over and gently tease all your hair with a bristle brush. Stand upright and leave your locks to stand for five minutes before blasting them with a warm hairdryer.
6. Once you have completed the curling process, apply a small
amount of finishing product through your ends, scrunching softly to maximise your curls. We love KMS California Curlup Hot Spiral Spray, $24.95
Tip from the Pro
"To keep your waves looking fresh all day, spritz your locks with a curl-enhancing or texturising spray every few hours." -Kevin Murphy
