Lily Allen wants to become an actress.

Lily is presently preparing for the release of her second album 'It's Not Me, It's You' in February, but friends say she's also been asking her father, actor Keith Allen, about pursuing a new career path.

A source close to Lily, 23, said: "She thinks it might get her out of the spotlight, which is what she has found hard to cope with, even though film or TV roles will hardly be low-profile. She says the next six months will be the most important of her life. She is getting some control back."

In the past year, Lily suffered a miscarriage before splitting with her boyfriend, Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons.

Friends say Lily longs for stability in her life and is ready to move on from her painful past.

The source said: "Lily's done a lot of growing up in the past few months. She says fame has stunted her as a human being and she's determined to sort herself out."

Lily's brother, Alfie Allen, 22, is also an actor. He appeared in 'Atonement' and took over from 'Harry Potter' actor Daniel Radcliffe in a touring theatre production of 'Equus'.
