Another one bites the dust

Lots has been happening here in the BHG offices over the past few days. We have sent another magazine off to the printer (May issue, on sale 2 April) with the finishing touches currently being made to the cover by our editor and deputy art director.
WHEW, hear that sound? That's the sound of another deadline rushing by!

Time for Inspiration

This is the time of year when many trade shows take place, and a so it's a fabulous opportunity for staff to head out and discover what's new in the industry. It's a chance to make contact with suppliers, touch and feel the products, and in some cases, play with the pieces.

DesignEx is on between April 10-12 and is an opportunity for suppliers to showcase new furniture, flooring, rugs and carpets, kitchen appliances, tiles, decorative accessories, etc, etc. Dora and Chantal in our decorating department love DesignEx and have fun featuring unique and new items in stories throughout the year.

The Toy Hobby & Nursery Fair is held in Melbourne from 4 to 7 April 2008 and from my past visits, I'm telling you it's TOY HEAVEN ... (and not a kid to be seen!). Toy Fair is another chance for companies to present new products, due for launch throughout the year. This means, I get a sneak peak into the future to see what kids will be begging for over the coming months.

Another exciting event on the calendar is The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show on between 2 and 6 April. Both Roger and Adam from the Gardening department will be heading down to walk around the spectacular displays of flowers, plants and landscape designs. So look out, there will be many new plants and ideas splashed throughout the magazine in 2008.

Oh, and not to be forgotten are the fabulous needlecraft and quilt shows in most states of Australia throughout the year. This is not an exclusive TRADE only show, so lots of our lovely readers attend these too. For those of you lucky enough to live on the Goldcoast, why not check it out between 3 and 6 April at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Broadbeach.
