Almond smoothie soaps

Nov 27 11:43am
With oats and almonds to soothe and smooth the skin, these little discs of soap look almost good enough to eat.

These inexpensive pampering soaps will have you, your mum and lots of friends feeling like a million dollars! If you make more than one batch, you can vary the flowers and fragrant oil for different effects.

You'll need
3 bars lightly scented white complexion soap (such as Dove), grated
2 tbsp anhydrous wool fat (from a chemist)
1 1/2 tsp almond fragrance oil
1 tbsp rolled oats
1 tbsp ground almonds
Dried flowers such as calendula, lavender and rose petals
Canola oil spray
Clean empty can with straight sides or a date roll tin

Here's how
Step 1
Melt soap and wool fat together gently over low heat, stirring until smooth.

Step 2 Remove the mixture from the heat and add oil, oats, ground almonds and flowers. Stir to blend thoroughly.

Step 3 Spray the clean dry can (or date roll tin)with Canola oil. Spoon the soap mixture into can. Allow to dry for 2 days. Use a can opener to remove bottom of can, then gently push out the soap log. If is difficult to remove, run the can under hot water for few seconds. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 2cm discs. Trim any rough edges and wrap in clear cellophane tied with ribbons.

Tip: If not using Dove you can try 1/3 cup water to 100g of ordinary soap.
