Annie Millar is the writer and stylist for the Beauty and Health pages of Better Homes and Gardens magazine. She's also a Lifestylist and Transformational Life Coach. Read her blog:

I can understand lots of women thinking I have the best job in the world ...especially when they see the gorgeous boxes tied up with beautiful ribbons landing on my desk.

When I unwrap the parcels I always get excited about what I'll find inside. It feels like Christmas every time. And then there's the job of trying the products. I'm talking about the latest anti-wrinkle cream, a delicious scented body scrub or the next season's lipsticks.

I'm guessing you're a little envious by now, but it's also where my job becomes very interesting. You see, everyone in the office is suddenly my best friend and offers to lend a hand. I'm extremely grateful, of course, and do accept their generous offers. We are a team after all and there are only so many lipsticks and face creams one woman can try.

But seriously, I love my job. I love discovering ways to enhance my own beauty, ways to feel better about myself and I'm always keen to learn better ways to express myself. I really believe the better we feel about ourselves the better our lives can be. Not only that we'll be in a better place to care about others and the planet. I know there are lots of ‘betters' here but to me striving to live life better is what it's all about.

As for the Being Better pages I prepare for you in the magazine, the aim is to help and inspire you to take as much care of yourself as you do of your home and garden; more if possible. Yes, I include information about products, but they're just there to help you along the way.

And for those of you who are yet to spend much time in your own world of beauty please, please do come along for the ride and sample some of the wonderful pleasures it will give you.

But for now...got to go, I have a large pink box tied with gold and crimson ribbon to open. I'll let you know what was in it next time.

Annie

On these steamy summer days, I love coming home from work and having a refreshingly cool shower. I lather myself up with some delicious smelling MOR bodywash and just let the chilled water wash away all the grime of the day. (Of course, I try not to stay in there too long!).
