Picnic Ideas

The key to a successful picnic (other than nice weather*) isn’t great food. No, it’s great food that’s easy to eat. While it may be tempting to pull out the big guns and try to impress when planning a picnic lunch (especially if it is of a romantic nature) the best picnics are ones you remember for the company and experience, not because you spent the whole day trying to hide the whopping BBQ sauce stain on your shirt from when you were trying to baste the roast legs of lamb turning on your portable spit.

So, to save you the hassle, here are some great recipe ideas to consider next time you're planning a picnic.

Picnic Lunch
Here is a menu plan that has it all: finger sandwiches, salad and chocolate strawberries.

Italian picnic loaf
A delicious treat that has been very popular among our readers since we first ran it over 10 years ago.

Siamese chicken drumettes
These may require a little extra work, but the results are more than mouthwatering.

Tomato salsa
Salsa is a great idea at picnics, as you can bring the chips separately and then just open the jar when it is time.

* Don’t think that just because it’s raining, you can’t have a picnic. Why not unfurl the rug on the floor in front of your fire?
